There are family stories that suggest that Julian Baptista responded to music in utero. It's certain that as a young child he pretty constantly hummed, and by the age of four he was performing in musical shows at his church. As a child he was also interested in theater, and performed in many plays including as Snoopy in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and as Jabba the Hutt in an opera based on Star Wars called Space Opera.
For most of his childhood Julian was educated with a form of homeschooling called unschooling, which gave him plenty of time to work on his music and read and think and explore. He has spent a couple of months in the mountainous woods of North Carolina living under a tarp in an Outward Bound program, traveled to Morocco, Spain, Ireland, England, Portugal, and other places, kayaked in the Atlantic, and much more.
Throughout all of this, Julian has been studying, playing, and writing music, and in 2010 he released his first album, Lost in the Crowd.
Julian has just earned his degree in Music and Social Justice and is now focusing on being a musician full-time.
